West African Crisis: A Cacao Shortage?

General Directions: Use this webpage as a model for how to construct your website. This page is where visitors will land, and this page is where you should place your images and your podcast. Be sure to put your name prominently on the page, along with the title of your essay as I've done above. Notice how I've staggered text and images & changed font sizes in an effort to create some visual interest. Though you don't have to copy my format, I hope my examples illustrate the purpose of the virtual presentation. The same is true of the tabs at the top. They are meant to illustrate structure and requirements for the assignment. Be creative within the framework of the assigned tabs, but be sure to at least have the four minimum that appear at the top of this page.
Suggestions for Recording Audio: Consider using Clyp to record audio for your podcast.
I recommend this resource to record your two to three minute podcast. AP & Honors three to four minute podcast and consider using more than the minimum pieces of evidence that I suggest in my podcast about podcasts. Though you are not required to use the Pecha Kucha structure because the form is longer than your short talk, the format works well and is often required for presentations in college; consider watching the first half of the video below for some suggestions about this sort of presentation. The embedded video might also give you some good ideas about organizing and preparing your podcast. After you've recorded your podcast using Clyp, you will have the option to get an embed code. Copy that code - drag and drop the embed tool into your page - then paste the copied code into the embed tool and your podcast is ready to go! |
Suggestions for Images: Use the Weebly tools on the left of the BUILD page, which you can drag and drop, to place the fifteen to twenty images into this page of your website. I recommend using the slideshow tool, but this is not a strict requirement. Be sure to attribute the sources of the images as I've done on this page (with source titles & hyperlinks) and take care to select the highest quality images that you can. There are numerous tools you have available with this tool to help you customize the way the images scroll or can be manipulated by the user. Be creative! Play around with the resource to get a handle on how it works.
Listen to my podcast about how to use Clyp and
how to record podcasts for the research project. If you have difficulty with Clyp, you may use the recorder on your device to record and save an audio file.
For instance, I used Quicktime to record the directions update at the right. Next, upload your audio file to a free service like SoundCloud, and get your embed code from SoundCloud to use with the embed tool. I'm fairly certain you can also record on SoundCloud, but I didn't try that angle. Feel free to try it if you like. This process has more steps than using Clyp but the sound quality and ease of use are similar. |
